Alexander Monro has worked as a journalist in the UK, Brussels and China,
writing on general news, the arts and finance. He has edited travel poetry
anthologies and a Cadogan travel guide, followed the Mongols through Asia
(sponsored by the Scott Society), and researched the early Chinese communists.
He has written on China for the Times, Guardian, Independent, Telegraph,
New Scientist, Literary Review and TLS. His first book, The
Paper Trail (Penguin, Knopf), recounts the journey of paper from
obscure Chinese origins to worldwide ubiquity. He lives in Cheltenham and continues
to write on China.
