Brett Scott is a financial explorer, journalist, economic anthropologist, activist and author. He spends his life appearing on panels, consulting, and demystifying financial culture around the world. He studied anthropology in South Africa before moving to Cambridge University for postgraduate studies, and thereafter he worked in NGOs and spent a couple years working as a financial derivatives broker before leaving to explore the worlds of alternative finance and technology. He has written for many publications, including the Guardian, Aeon and New Scientist, produces occasional reports for UN bodies, and consults across a spectrum from government bodies to marijuana growers. In 2013 Brett published The Heretic's Guide to Global Finance, which drew support ranging from Ha-Joon Chang - "Smart and Street-smart" - to Bill McKibben: "an imaginative, even exuberant exploration of the daunting world of finance".
His latest book, Cloudmoney, is published by The Bodley Head in the UK and HarperCollins in the US.
