Erica McAlister is an entomologist, museum curator, writer and presenter. She is Principal Curator of Flies at the Natural History Museum in London and a former President of the Amateur Entomologists' Society. She was also the Chair of the Dipterists Forum and sits on the International Dipterists Society committee. Erica travels extensively for fieldwork, collecting and describing new species to science, she undertakes biodiversity surveys both in the UK and abroad, but is often found in the collection at the museum working with historic specimens. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society and a Fellow of the Linnaean Society.
She gives regular public talks, and has presented several BBC Radio 4 programmes as well as appearing on television. She has published several books, including The Secret Life of Flies for the Natural History Museum and A Bug’s World for Wren & Rook.
