Johnjoe McFadden

Johnjoe McFadden is Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Surrey. His principal research area is investigating the genetics of microbes that cause infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis; but he also writes popular science articles for newspapers such as the Guardian or the Washington Post on topics such as GM crops, evolution, gene cloning and synthetic biology. He wrote the book Quantum Evolution in 2001, co-edited Human Nature: Fact and Fiction in 2006; and is co-author with Jim Al-Khalili of the book, Life on the Edge: The Coming Age of Quantum Biology published in 2014. His latest book about Ockham’s razor, Life is Simple, is published by Basic Books.
