Juliette Bigley is a sculptor working in metal, who uses making to explore how we navigate our physical and emotional place in the world. Juliette makes to understand, but via a different route: to discover some of what she thinks by tumbling together making, metal, words and everyday life to create bodies of work that seek to bridge the analytic with the material and the creative. She became an artist through a combination of accident, curiosity and stubbornness after careers in classical music and healthcare and studies that ranged from literature to social policy, making and philosophy. Her first book examines our relationship to material through the eyes, hands and body of a maker.
Juliette's award-winning work, which has been funded by Arts Council England, travels nationally and internationally, having homes in both public and private collections, and she regularly participates on panels at exhibitions and museum events. She lives in London.
