Liz Kalaugher is a science and environment journalist, editor and author. Covering environmental science news for environmentalresearchweb (later Physics World Environment and Energy) for twelve years honed Liz's knowledge of the natural world. She has also written for New Scientist and BBC Wildlife, as well as the Guardian, BBC News, BBC Focus and The Big Issue. Liz is co-author of Furry Logic: The Physics of Animal Life (Bloomsbury, 2016).
Kalaugher was recently awarded an Authors' Foundation grant by the Society of Authors to write Crossing the Zebra: How We Can Heal Wildlife and Ourselves (Icon Books, 2025). She has also won journalism fellowships from the World Federation of Science Journalists and European Geosciences Union, enabling her to report on research from an icebreaker in the Canadian Article and from Northern Finland.
