Tim Franks has anchored Newshour, the flagship news and current affairs programme on the BBC World Service, since 2013.
Before that, Tim spent almost twenty years as a BBC correspondent, beginning with the Troubles in Northern Ireland, becoming a political correspondent based at Westminster, and then a decade on the road as an award-winning foreign correspondent, based in Washington DC, Brussels, and Jerusalem.
He’s covered several conflicts, from Iraq and Israel-Lebanon, to Gaza, South Sudan and Ukraine. He also – to the polite bemusement of his colleagues – spent three years as a sports correspondent.
His book – The Lines We Draw – is due to be published by Bloomsbury Continuum.
