SUBMITTING

If submitting a fiction manuscript, please submit in the first instance the opening three chapters (or fifty pages) along with a synopsis. The synopsis should be a clear explanation of the plot from first to final chapter. Please accompany your submission with a brief cover letter that tells us a little about you as a writer.

While we will consider submissions of non-fiction books that are fully written, the majority of non-fiction titles are sold on proposal. A non-fiction proposal should be approximately thirty pages long. You should address the following:

• What the book is about, and why it needs to be published.
• Who you are and why you are the ideal person to write this book.
• A summary of the market for the book, including similar or competing books that have already been published.
• A chapter of sample text (usually taken from an early part of the book, but not the introduction).
• An outline of chapters (a page per chapter, written in full prose).

Unfortunately, we do not represent children's picture books, poetry, or books entirely aimed at an academic market. While we do not accept submissions of scripts for film, TV or theatre, we of course successfully represent the dramatic rights of our writers' work.
